A trade mark is any symbol designed to distinguish the goods or services of one individual from the goods or services of another individual and can be represented graphically. A trade mark may comprise words, personal names, author pseudonyms, names of businesses, slogans, letters, pictures, emblems, shapes, colour and colour combinations, colour compositions, etc.

Useful things to consider

Before embarking on the process of trade mark registration, we recommend that you conduct a risk assessment. This is a process where we analyse similar or equivalent trademarks already registered and assess the potential risks. A risk assessment will provide you with information regarding:

  1. What the risk is that the trade mark will not be registered, for example, because of certain similarities with other trademarks already registered (this will minimise the risk of wasting 12 months).
  2. What the likelihood is of objections from the holders of similar trademarks and their claims to cancel the registration of your trade mark (the interests of many businesses are represented by law firms that monitor similarities with all new trademarks registered).
  • A trademark risk assessment may take up to 5 working days.
  • The service costs 200 EUR + VAT.
