Renewal of a Residence permit


In the process of renewing your Residence permit in Lithuania, the Department of Immigration reassesses whether you comply with the existing requirements. At this point, it is very important to substantiate the following conditions:


  1. That the business on which basis you obtained the Residence permit is in operation.
  2. That the company complies with all the necessary requirements.
  3. That you have a place of residence in Lithuania.


To prove that your business is working and that your company complies with the necessary requirements, you have to present the necessary bookkeeping documents.


To prove that you have a place of residence in Lithuania, you need to present a certificate of avowed place of residence and a document of ownership of a place of residence, or a rental contract or agreement with the owner regarding your residence at this address.





Please be aware that you can apply for the renewal of your Residence permit no earlier than 4 months before and no later than 2 months before the date of expiration of your current Residence permit in Lithuania.


For the renewal of your Residence permit you can apply only in Lithuania. The decision on the renewal of the Residence permit will be made in 2 months.


If all the necessary documents are prepared in advance, you can easily consider finishing your application process at the Department of Immigration within 1 or 2 working days.
